How To Maintain and keep HIS Hair clean and fresh

How To Take Care Of Men’s Hair

Just as a woman’s hair care routine is important to maintaining clean and healthy looking and feeling hair, so too is a men’s hair care routine.

Here are some tips and tricks to creating a hair care routine that will keep men’s hair looking and feeling its best at all time.

WASHING HAIR ROUTINE

fathers day

Washing your hair is at the base of a good hair care routine. This includes finding the right products for your hair type, how often your wash your hair and steps after you finished washing it.

STEP 1 - SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

Pick products according to your hair type for the best results. Any products you use should be sulfate-free and silicone-free as these ingredients are hard on hair and cause it to look dry and dull over time.

If you have dry hair that gets frizzy, get moisturising or hydrating products that have oils, butters and other nourishing ingredients that improve your hair.

If your hair is oily or fine, find clarifying products that contain ingredients that will target oil and thinning.

If your hair breaks or frays often, look for restorative products that contain proteins that restore hair and prevent further damage and brokerage.

STEP 2 - WASHING

Many people think it’s healthy to wash hair daily, this is not true. Washing your hair too often strips your hair of protective oils naturally produced by your scalp, leaving it more prone to getting frizzy and frayed. For men, two to three washes a week is ideal.

If your hair gets greasy quickly, try washing your hair with only water on days your aren’t using shampoo or conditioner. If you start doing this, your hair will overproduce oil until it naturally balances out.

When it comes to the temperature of the water you wash your hair in, hot water dries out hair. It’s more beneficial to use warm or cool water.

STEP 3 - DRYING

Hair is weaker when wet, as water causes keratin molecules in hair to stretch. So roughly towel drying hair can break hair. Instead, use a towel to dab hair dry to get rid of the excess water, then let it air dry.

STYLING

Just as washing your hair correctly and with the right products is important, so too is styling.

STEP 1 - GEL OR POMADE

If you like neat styled hair, using gels or pomades when hair is still wet can keep your hair looking fresh fresh and tamed all day. But, only use a coin-sized amount if you have short hair, because using too much will make your hair look oily and greasy.

Gel is usually lighter and easier to work with. While pomades and creams are good for curly hair, since they are thicker.

STEP 2 - BLOW DRYING

While blow ding your hair will dry it quicker, it will eventually start causing your hair to break and damage it. If you have thinning hair, don’t blow dry at all and let it air dry.

STYLING LONGER HAIR

If your hair is longer, there are extra things you need to do to maintain a  good condition and looking clean and fresh.

Deep condition frizzy hair. Get a deep conditioning product or mask and use it once a week.

Use a wide-toothed comb instead of a brush as they break hair.

Invest in a hair oil, as using a small amount while hair is wet will act as a leave-in conditioner.

THINNING HAIR CARE

While thinning hair is a part of life and growing up, it can be prevented and managed.
